Posting for Marylee Syra:
The first ice skating class for homeschoolers has been brought into existence! The first session will be held for four weeks on Mondays from 11:00 until 12:00. This includes half an hour of instruction and half an hour of practice. The doors open at 10:30 and the children need to be dressed and on the ice by 11:00. They suggest coming 15 to 20 minutes early.
It's extremely cold on the ice. Students need to be dressed warmly with pants and perhaps a sweater. Some students even like wearing gloves. Bike helmets are okay but are not required. Many people change into their ice skating clothes at the arena. Be sure to take into account the time it takes to change clothes as well as to put on the skates.
Labor Day falls in the middle of the session. We will NOT have class on Labor Day. The class dates will be August 11, August 18, August 25 and September 8.
I'll send out an application later this week. You do not have to sign up early. You can sign up as late as the first day of class. They want the session to be paid in full by the first day. It will be $52.00 if you have your own skates or $56.00 if you will be renting them each week.
If you miss a day, you can make it up in one of the week-end or evening classes.
As of today I have exactly ten students whose parents seem committed to the class. We need a minimum of ten students to keep both classes open. Please post this information anywhere you want. We could really use more students to make sure that the classes are filled.
Thanks for your interest and your support!
