Birds class at the Rio Grande Nature Center State Park classroom: Come join us Friday, March 14th from 10 to 11 am for a presentation on birds by a RGNC staff guide. We will meet inside the Nature Center shortly before 10:00. The class will begin promptly at 10 am.

Please feel free to stay afterwards for lunch/snack at the picnic tables next to the butterfly garden (south side of the parking lot).

If anyone's interested in going "birding" after the class, please also let me know, and I'd be happy to lead a visit to the ponds and feeders.

The Nature Center is located at the west end of Candelaria, west of Rio Grande Blvd. (From their website: "The Rio Grande Nature Center State Park is an enterprise agency and 63% of its operating budget is earned through entrance fees. The entrance fee to the RGNCSP is $3.00 per vehicle.")

Please RSVP to this thread by Monday, March 11th

Or, you can email me directly at hmich@thuntek.net

Just wanted to let folks know that we have two families signed up, but if we don't end up having a few more kiddos, then we'll have to cancel the class/presentation.

Thanks!

Hello,

I am just now getting to this post.  Did the class make and/or is it too late to RSVP?
I would just be one parent and one child.

Thanks,

Kelly

Hi Kelly,

Yes, we're confirmed for this Friday. Our leader/teacher is an expert birder and very familiar with the birds found at the Nature Center.

As a side note, my husband, I and kiddo joined a friend last night near the Nature Center to see a pair of Great Horned Owls at their nest. We saw one on the nest and heard the other one nearby. I should be able to relocate it and will have a spotting scope to share – it’s a short walk from the Nature Center (5 min). The birds are likely to be roosting during the day. :)

We'll see you at the Nature Center Friday morning at 10. Please come on into the building, and they can direct you to the classroom.

See you then, Heidi
