Fangs & Feathers ~ Live Animal Presentation

                          Sunday, April 20, 2008

                                  1pm & 2pm

Join park ranger Luke Fields, former Talking Talons volunteer educator,
who

will present two, one-hour programs on native desert animal species on
the

visitor center patio at 1:00 pm & 2:00 pm. See common Southwest desert

reptiles and birds and learn their habitats and behavior. Presented in

cooperation with Talking Talons Youth Leadership, ranger Luke will have

live reptiles and birds of prey on display for visitors to see up
close.

This is an opportunity that children and adults of all ages will be
sure to

enjoy.

Talking Talons Youth Leadership was founded in 1988. The
organization’s

mission is to “elevate youth to be effective advocates and ethical
stewards

for themselves, wildlife, and the environment.” They accomplish this
by

training youth ages 6 -17 both within their schools and outside of
school

in public speaking, communication skills, and science-based wildlife

education. By giving wildlife presentations with live birds of prey and

other desert animals, students build self-esteem while educating their

audiences about the importance of caring for our environment.

Location: Petroglyph National Monument’s Visitor Center located at
4735

Unser Blvd. NW at Western Trail.  This program is free and open to the

public. No advanced registration is required. Contact Luke Fields, Park

Ranger, at 505-899-0205 ext. 338 for more information.

conditions. Hats, sunscreen, and water are recommended. Also bring your
binoculars and a light lunch or snack. Total walking distance will be

miles. This hike is not appropriate for children.

This hike is free. Advanced registration is required and limited to 25

center patio located on Unser Blvd. NW at Western Trail, for a short
orientation. Participants will then car-pool to Rinconada Canyon. Call

Indian
hunters did hundreds of years ago. No need to register just come and
play.

From 1pm to 3pm a docent from the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary in Ramah,
